X users report login troubles as Dark Storm claims cyberattack | Malwarebytes
X (formerly Twitter) experienced multiple service disruptions yesterday, March 10, with thousands of users reporting login troubles throughout the day. The cybercriminal group “Dark Storm Team” claimed responsibility for the attack via Telegram, stating “Twitter has been taken offline by Dark Storm Team.” This group, reportedly formed in 2023, has a history of launching Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks against major companies. Elon Musk confirmed the cyberattack, suggesting it was unusually resource-intensive and potentially orchestrated by “a large, coordinated group and/or a country.” In response, X has implemented Cloudflare protection services, requiring users to complete human verification forms when accessing certain parts of the platform or connecting from suspicious IP addresses.
