HP Brings Quantum-Safe Encryption to Printers

HP is introducing quantum-safe encryption to its enterprise and professional-grade printers, featuring new formatters and ASIC chips with traditional RSA and quantum-resistant LMS encryption. The move is in response to the growing threat of quantum computers potentially breaking standard encryption mechanisms, with organizations, especially those handling sensitive data, preparing for the future. The upgraded printers, set to arrive this fall, will initially require firmware updates, with quantum resistance enabled by default in new models starting next year.
