Violent ChatGPT Hallucination Sparks GDPR Complaint
A Norwegian man, Arve Hjalmar Holmen, filed a GDPR complaint against OpenAI after ChatGPT falsely claimed he murdered his children. The Austrian data rights group None of Your Business, representing Holmen, argues that the hallucinated response, which included accurate details about Holmen’s life, could be mistaken for truth. The group urges the Norwegian data regulator to order OpenAI to fine-tune its models, delete defamatory outputs, and impose a fine for violating the GDPR.
