Google Brings End-to-End Encrypted Emails to All Enterprise Gmail Users - SecurityWeek

Google has introduced end-to-end encrypted email for enterprise Gmail users, starting with internal communications before expanding to all Gmail inboxes and eventually any email service. Unlike S/MIME, which requires complex certificate management, Google’s approach uses organization-controlled encryption keys without additional setup. Messages to Gmail accounts decrypt automatically, while other recipients access them through a restricted Gmail interface. The technology uses client-side encryption, rendering data unreadable to Google and third parties while meeting regulatory requirements. Google has also released several other security features including data loss prevention and AI threat protection.
