New Study Ranks Platforms By Password Reset Frequency - Cybersecurity Insiders
A recent study by Heepsy reveals that YouTube users reset their passwords more than any other platform, averaging 4.3 resets per user annually, driven by over 1.4 billion password-related searches. Video streaming platforms top the list for password recovery attempts, with content consumption services generating up to 43 times more resets than communication apps. Facebook, Pinterest, and X follow in the rankings, while mobile-first platforms like Instagram and Line see significantly fewer issues due to persistent logins. The findings highlight usability and design factors—such as device type and login frequency—as key influences on password retention behaviour.
