Dynamic DNS Emerges as Go-to Cyberattack Facilitator
Dynamic DNS (DDNS) services, which automatically update domain names’ DNS records, are increasingly being abused by cybercriminals like Scattered Spider. These services, designed to simplify IP address management, provide attackers with a means to obfuscate their activity and impersonate well-known brands. The rise in the use of rentable subdomains from DDNS providers, coupled with the ease of acquiring and shifting these domains, poses a significant challenge for cybersecurity efforts.
