Telegram Gave Authorities Data on More than 20,000 Users

Telegram provided user data to authorities for 22,777 users in the first quarter of 2025, a significant increase from the same period in 2024. This shift in cooperation comes after CEO Pavel Durov’s arrest in France for refusing to cooperate with a child abuse investigation. Durov recently claimed that France requested he suppress conservative voices in Romania ahead of their presidential election, a claim denied by French intelligence.
