Mandiant is reporting that the financially motivated group FIN8 has leaked 1.2 terabytes of data from an energy sector corporation, GlobalPetro Corp. The leak includes employee PII and sensitive intellectual property (project schematics) and was posted on a public breach forum. This highlights the ongoing threat of data extortion, even from actors not traditionally focused on ransomware.
