Toronto businesses lose thousands of dollars following POS thefts

Thieves are targeting Toronto businesses’ point-of-sale (POS) terminals, exploiting vulnerabilities in the machines to issue themselves large refunds. Security experts advise businesses to secure their POS terminals, change default settings, and limit refund amounts to prevent such thefts. The Beach BIA has warned its members about the issue, while the City of Toronto has previously addressed similar concerns in other areas.
