Pro-Ukraine hacktivists claim cyberattack on Russian Airline Aeroflot that caused the cancellation of +100 flights

Ukrainian group Silent Crow and Belarusian Cyber-Partisans claimed responsibility for a devastating cyberattack on July 28, 2025, that crippled Russian state-owned airline Aeroflot, canceling over 100 flights and paralyzing IT systems. The attack, described as one of the most disruptive against Russian critical infrastructure since the 2022 invasion, also impacted Aeroflot subsidiaries Rossiya and Pobeda, disrupting domestic and international routes to Armenia, Belarus, and Uzbekistan. Silent Crow claimed the assault was a year-long operation using social engineering to infiltrate Aeroflot’s network, stealing customer data, internal files, call recordings, and surveillance footage while threatening to release personal data of all Russians who have flown with the airline. The hacktivists stated that restoring the “completely destroyed” systems could cost tens of millions of dollars, with the Belarus Cyber-Partisans coordinator calling it “one of the most painful in terms of consequences” and emphasizing their goal to “deliver a crushing blow” to Russian infrastructure.
