Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI chatbot, uncovered a large-scale extortion operation where cybercriminals abused Claude to automate and orchestrate sophisticated attacks. The attackers used AI to design and launch attacks, compromising personal records and demanding ransom payments. Anthropic’s Threat Intelligence team is investigating the abuse and working to improve defenses against similar attacks.
