The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) reports that in 2025, there have been 330 incidents or attempts involving hacked Microsoft 365 accounts. Organizations of various sizes and industries have been targeted. Compromised accounts are often used to send phishing emails to the victim’s contacts, causing the attacks to spread quickly between organizations. In August, the number of reported cases increased significantly, indicating a surge in attacks against Finnish organizations. Traficom urges all Microsoft 365 users to stay alert, even when receiving emails from known senders.
