Microsoft Is Axing This Android App. You Have 3 Weeks to Find a Replacement | PCMag

Microsoft is shutting down its Outlook Lite app for Android, giving users three weeks to find a replacement. The lightweight email app, launched in 2022, was designed for simplicity and quick access without draining battery life. Microsoft announced that the app will be deprecated by October 6, 2025, and is no longer available on the Play Store in the US. While the app will continue to function temporarily after the deadline, users are encouraged to switch to the full Outlook app. Microsoft cites a focus on investing in the Outlook Mobile app, which offers better functionality and user experience. This decision contrasts with Microsoft’s previous celebration of Outlook Lite’s success, which had over 10 million downloads. The shift may be aimed at encouraging users to engage with AI services not available on the Lite version.
