UK ICO finds students behind majority of school data breaches

The UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) found that students were responsible for 57% of data breaches in schools, with 97% of those breaches involving stolen login credentials. The ICO warns that this behavior could lead to a life of cybercrime and emphasizes the importance of understanding children’s motivations in the online world. The breaches were primarily caused by weak data protection practices, such as staff misusing data or leaving devices unattended.
