The Akira ransomware operation is exploiting SonicWall SSL VPN devices, often inherited through mergers and acquisitions, to target large enterprises. These devices, frequently misconfigured and containing legacy credentials, allow attackers rapid access, with some attacks completing in as little as five hours.
