House Energy and Commerce Committee unveils new draft children’s online safety bill | The Record from Recorded Future News

The House Energy and Commerce Committee has unveiled a new draft of the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), which omits the previous duty of care provision that would have held big tech liable for social harms. Instead, the draft requires platforms to maintain reasonable policies to address harms to minors, with adaptability based on platform size and feasibility. The committee will also consider other bills, including the App Store Accountability Act and COPPA 2.0, aimed at enhancing online safety for children.
