Marquis data breach impacts over 74 US banks, credit unions

The financial software provider Marquis Software Solutions has disclosed a data breach impacting over 74 US banks and credit unions, affecting more than 400,000 customers. The breach, which occurred on August 14, 2025, due to a ransomware attack exploiting a SonicWall firewall, potentially exposed sensitive personal information including names, addresses, and Social Security numbers.
