The SK Telecom USIM hacking and data breach incident of last year has been identified by the Cyber Management Alliance (CMA) as a significant structural security failure, not just a data leak. This incident, which compromised the Home Subscriber Server (HSS) and led to the theft of sensitive information for millions of subscribers, has impacted South Korea’s reputation as a leading IT nation and resulted in a record fine for SK Telecom.
