Epic Lawsuit Targets Alleged ‘Sham’ Providers in Data HIE

Epic Systems has filed a lawsuit accusing rival vendor Health Gorilla of enabling “sham” entities to improperly access patient data through national health information exchange networks. The lawsuit alleges that these entities, including co-defendants Mammoth and RavillaMed, exploited these frameworks to gain access to nearly 300,000 patient records for commercial purposes, a claim Health Gorilla vehemently denies, stating Epic is attempting to stifle competition.
