Delta said on Monday that it was the victim of a “large-scale, coordinated and well-organized” cyberattack originating from an unspecified “hostile foreign state.” The company acknowledged temporary service disruptions but stated that it has no evidence that customer personal data was compromised. In a video address, Delta marketing director Valery Ushkov said the company’s architecture was unable to withstand a coordinated external attack. He added that recovery efforts were ongoing, noting that the restoration of backups was taking time while the organization remained at risk of follow-on attacks.
