Angola’s largest telecommunications operator, Unitel, was hit by a cyberattack in the early hours of 29 July 2026, less than 24 hours before its planned stock-exchange debut. The incident left millions of customers without voice, mobile data, and internet services.

RIPE NCC data showed that Unitel’s IP prefixes remained announced throughout the outage, indicating the disruption originated inside the company’s core systems rather than from an external connectivity cut or volumetric DDoS attack. Services remained disrupted at the time of reporting, with no restoration timeline provided.
