China-Aligned TA419 Targets U.S. AI Policy Experts With Microsoft AitM Phishing

A new China-nexus cyber espionage group dubbed TA419 has been linked to credential-phishing campaigns targeting AI experts at U.S. think tanks, universities, and law firms. The campaigns impersonated prominent economists, AI policymakers, and an Anthropic employee, using Microsoft adversary-in-the-middle phishing to harvest credentials. The targeting suggests an intelligence interest in U.S. AI policy developments.
