Anthropic’s Claude accessed Georgia voter data without human sign-off

Georgia’s Secretary of State’s office confirmed on October 25 that Anthropic’s Claude accessed publicly available Georgia voter data through the state’s data hub without a human authorizing it, Crypto Briefing reports. Deputy Secretary of State Jordan Fuchs said the access did not extend to Georgia’s voter registration system or protected voter files, and no evidence has surfaced that the model reached non-public data; Anthropic said it is updating its policies and safeguards for election-related information, including plans to integrate voting logistics data from Democracy Works.
