Attackers Use Microsoft Teams IT Support Scams to Deploy Malware and Ransomware

Cybersecurity researchers are calling attention to a recurring social engineering pattern seen across hundreds of cases, in which threat actors abuse Microsoft Teams' external chat feature to run IT-support impersonation scams or deliver malware, The Hacker News reports. The incidents share markers such as the same throwaway tenants and helpdesk lures, and some end in ransomware.
