Risky Bulletin: Moldova takes down 80+ public services after cyberattack

Moldova has suffered one of its worst cybersecurity incidents after hackers breached government systems and stole sensitive data on roughly 750,000 citizens, about a third of the country’s population of 2.35 million, Risky Business reports. Officials shut down 82 public digital services and 30 government networks after spotting the exfiltration on October 23; the stolen data included names, birth details, family and insurance information, social security, pension and disability details, driver’s licence data, photos and financial details, and the attackers got in through vulnerabilities in a logging service left exposed online without authentication.
