Game devs are being extorted with AI game-cloning threats

For the past several months, unidentified parties have been emailing small game developers and threatening to use AI tools to copy their public demos and unreleased games and publish them early unless a ransom is paid, Risky Biz reports. Demands have ranged from hundreds to thousands of dollars, and the campaign is believed to be a primary reason many developers have pulled their demos from Steam.
