DOJ warns FBI data breach likely extends to Justice Department employees
The Justice Department has warned employees in U.S. attorney offices that their information may also have been stolen in the breach of the FBI’s jobs portal, Politico reports. The FBIJobs.gov system held background-check information, including Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses and emergency contacts, for thousands of people; the FBI blamed a contractor that failed to install a security patch, and the cybercrime group ShinyHunters claimed responsibility.
