North Korean Hackers Tied to $1.3B in Stolen Crypto in 2024
North Korean hackers have stolen a record amount of cryptocurrency in 2024, totaling $1.34 billion across 47 incidents. This surge in activity, which accounts for 61% of all stolen crypto this year, is attributed to the country’s dire financial situation and its need to fund its regime and weapons programs. While the monthly volume of attacks declined in the second half of the year, the reasons for this shift remain unclear.
