Infoblox researchers investigating the “Muddling Meerkat” threat actor uncovered widespread domain spoofing in spam campaigns. The research, initially focused on strange DNS operations, revealed multiple spam campaigns using domain spoofing for phishing, brand impersonation, extortion, and financial scams. Despite security measures, domain spoofing remains a highly effective tactic for spammers.
