Internal state data breach exposes info of 61,000 Texans

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is investigating a data breach that may have compromised the personal information of over 61,000 Texans. The breach occurred when employees allegedly accessed the accounts of individuals receiving public assistance, including Medicaid and food stamps. The HHSC has terminated the employees involved and is offering credit monitoring and identity theft protection services to those affected.
