MasterCard had a DNS error for nearly five years, allowing anyone to intercept or divert traffic by registering the unused domain “akam.ne.” Security researcher Philippe Caturegli discovered the error and registered the domain to prevent exploitation, highlighting the potential risks of such misconfigurations.
