Patching Lags for Vulnerabilities Targeted by Salt Typhoon
Chinese nation-state hackers, known as Salt Typhoon, have exploited known vulnerabilities in networking gear from Microsoft, Sophos, Fortinet, and Ivanti, targeting U.S. and international telecommunications networks. Despite the availability of patches, many organizations have failed to address these vulnerabilities, leaving systems at risk. The Biden administration criticized telecoms’ cybersecurity posture, calling for updated regulations and improved incident response measures to combat persistent threats like Salt Typhoon.
