Honeypots have detected a surge in brute-force password attacks targeting edge devices, particularly those manufactured by Palo Alto Networks, Ivanti, and SonicWall. The attacks, originating from millions of unique IP addresses, are believed to be launched by malware-infected edge devices, with MikroTik devices being a significant source. While the attacks exploit both known and zero-day vulnerabilities, unpatched equipment remains a primary target for attackers seeking initial access to networks.
