New ReaderUpdate malware variants target macOS users
SentinelOne researchers warn of new ReaderUpdate malware variants targeting macOS users. The malware, which has been active since 2020, is now distributed in five variants compiled from different programming languages, including Python, Go, Crystal, Rust, and Nim. The Go variant, which is rarer, collects system hardware information and maintains persistence via a .plist file, potentially offering other threat actors Pay-Per-Install or Malware-as-a-Service.
