SafePay Ransomware Group Threatens to Leak 3.5 TB of Ingram Micro Data

The SafePay ransomware group has set an August 1 deadline to leak 3.5 TB of data stolen from global IT distributor Ingram Micro, escalating a high‑profile cyberattack nearly a month after the incident. Although Ingram Micro previously announced that global operations were restored by July 9, its appearance on SafePay’s leak site suggests the company did not pay the ransom, consistent with double extortion tactics. These tactics are designed to amplify pressure on victims by threatening public exposure of sensitive data.

Despite assurances of full recovery, industry observers note that some Ingram Micro websites, including its Middle East, Turkey, and Africa security site, were only recently restored, with some assets still missing. Sources have also criticized the company’s communication throughout the attack, citing uncertainty about where to find updates. The looming data leak underscores the ongoing risks facing multinational enterprises in the ransomware landscape and highlights the severe consequences of extortion‑driven breaches.
