Dell admits consumers do not care about AI PCs Source: www.theverge.com/news/8577… Dell has acknowledged that consumers are not currently purchasing personal computers based on artificial intelligence features, signalling a shift away from an “AI-first” positioning for its 2026 product lineup. In an interview with PC Gamer ahead of CES, Dell indicated that while all newly announced devices will include neural processing units, consumer buying behaviour has not aligned with AI-driven marketing. “We’re very focused on delivering upon the AI capabilities of a device — in fact everything that we’re announcing has an NPU in it — but what we’ve learned over the course of this year, especially from a consumer perspective, is they’re not buying based on AI,” said Kevin Terwilliger, Dell’s head of product. “In fact, I think AI probably confuses them more than it helps them understand a specific outcome.” The admission is notable given Dell’s close partnership with Microsoft, which continues to push AI features in Windows and promote Copilot Plus PCs to consumers.
